Feeding Our Neighbors Both Near and Far

By Sara Downs
Pastoral Assistant, Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Des Moines

Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Des Moines is a small, moderate income membership, neighborhood church with an average attendance of a little over 250 per week at our four weekly services. Though small, we accomplish above and beyond our budget each year because we care and desire to do what we believe our Lord, Jesus Christ wants us to do—care for others. For he said, "As you did it to the least of these, my brethren, you did it to me". This desire is demonstrated in feeding our neighbors both near and far.
