On June 16, 2007, a group of six youth and young adults ventured to El Paso, Texas on the "Shoulder-to-Shoulder Border Immersion Experience" with Pastor Paul Nelson and Kay Kinkel, AIM and Assistant to the Bishop. Organized by Pastor Rose Mary Sanchez-Guzman and Kathleen Decker of Cristo Rey Lutheran Church, the week was packed full of tours and meetings with the Diocesan Immigration and Refugee Services, U.S. Border Patrol, Annunciacion House (a sanctuary for undocumented persons who have recently crossed the border), The Farm Workers United Center, and women's cooperatives in El Paso and in the colonias of Anapara and Panfilo Natera on the outskirts of Juarez, Mexico. These photos capture some of their experiences.
