Companion Synod – Pare Diocese
The companion synod program of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) allows synods to be paired up with a synod or diocese of the Lutheran Church somewhere else in the world. The Southeastern Iowa Synod is blessed to have as our companion synod the Pare Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) in Same, Tanzania in Africa.
Our companion synod relationship exists for the purpose of strengthening one another for life and mission within the body of Christ. Our partnership with them involves many mutually beneficial exchanges including the privilege of participating in the life of another church through prayer, study, communication, and exchange of resources.Relationships are built through lots of conversation, e-mail, letters, and prayers. The Companion Synod Ministry Team regularly fosters Vision Trips in order to enhance our understanding of one another and our mutual commitment to work together as the body of Christ.
